Dale Earnhardt Jr. breaks down the true reason behind Chris Buescher’s heated confrontation with Tyler Reddick
Adam Cairns/Columbus Dispatch / USA TODAY NETWORK

The race in Darlington involved every bit of drama, glory, and much more. However, the eyes of the fans were attracted to the heated confrontation between Chris Buescher and Tyler Reddick in the outbox, as a chance of a win slipped away from the pair after colliding with each other in the latter half of the race. Subsequently, Dale Earnhardt Jr. explained the reason behind the 31-year-old’s anger and the confrontation that took place afterward.

In the last stage of the race, with 10 laps left to go, both Chris Buescher and Tyler Reddick were witnessed fighting tooth-and-nail for the race win. This battle soon turned out to be a reason for both drivers to DNF and took the first-place trophy away from them. This led the anger-charged RFK racing driver to lash out at his compatriot and was then involved in a confrontation where the 23XI driver tried to calm things down.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. then explained the reason behind Buescher’s anger and claimed that watching the win slip away from the Ford driver for two weeks in a row was the reason for his outburst. Otherwise, the RFK driver would have held himself back and not gone ranting about Reddick’s late move to the No.45 driver.

I think that if last week doesn’t happen, I bet Buescher doesn’t march down there and talk to him. I bet he just bites his tongue and I doubt he would confront him. We talked to Buescher about last week’s race...And he told me, he’s like, ‘Man, it’s gonna sting. I’m never gonna get over it.’..It’s in his mind and certainly, probably now two weeks in a row he’s been in position to win. Dale Earnhardt Jr. said in the Dale Jr. Download podcast.

Kevin Harvick was unhappy with Tyler Reddick’s apologies to Chris Buescher

Despite justifying Buescher’s anger, the reality could not be changed as the No.17 driver finished 30th in the result chart. Subsequently, after taking him out, Reddick apologized for his misjudgment, but Kevin Harvick was not happy with the 23XI racer’s attitude towards mistakes.

I don’t like when these guys go down the road apologizing so much. It’s just pathetic. I wish they would apologize and just say, ‘I had to do what I had to do to to try to win the race. It didn’t work out. I’m sorry and I apologize for doing that. If I had to do it again I wish we’d have both continued.’ But don’t over apologize. Please, please do not over apologize. Kevi Harvick said in his Happy Hour podcast.

The 48-year-old claimed that he did not like when drivers over apologized for their mistakes. Moreover, he urged drivers to be a bit more like older racers, who admitted to their mistakes but deemed them to be necessary to go for the win.

Despite the condemnation from the former champion, fans appreciated the 28-year-old’s accountability. Subsequently, Reddick would be looking to get things back together on track and solve his beef with Buescher.
