Everton Under-21 head coach Paul Tait has kind words for new starlet Youssef Chermiti.

The 15 million summer signing from Sporting CP scored the winner in a 1-0 success for the U21s over Mansfield Town.

Getting himself to full fitness is the priority, with Chermiti hoping to show manager Sean Dyche he is ready for more first team action.

Post-game, Tait told the Liverpool ECHO: I thought Youssef showed some really nice touches. His technique was really good at times as he brought players into the game.

He looked like he needed some match minutes and he'd probably tell you that himself but he didn't half work hard and was really positive. He had some half chances but kept going and won the penalty with a bit of quality and then tucked it away so it was a really good, positive night for him.

He's a young player and it's a huge culture change for him. He's playing in the best league in the world and it's going to take him time to settle but hopefully this will have been a really good stage for him to help bring him on."
