One telling stat has shown why one attacking player at Chelsea has become out of favour recently, whilst others have not and are thriving.

Mauricio Pochettino is known to be a manager who demands a lot from his players, he likes them to have high work rate levels and to have strong and never give up attitudes.

He seems to be implementing that at Chelsea recently with a few comebacks proving that his players are not ones to give up.

And I’d imagine this is why winger Raheem Sterling has become more out of favour recently, with other wingers such as Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke being selected ahead of him.

Sterling has poor work rate

Stats show, from Sky Sports (as above), that he is the least hard working Chelsea forward from those who have played in the attacking midfield or centre forward roles this season.

Conor Gallagher is obviously the hardest working player, followed by Mudryk and Cole Palmer. Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke aren’t far behind. But Sterling shows he has a very poor work rate.
